There some common problems occur when pregnant. One of common problems suffered by pregnant women is hip pain. This pain is caused by the pressure of the growing uterus that is coupled with the shifting of pelvic bones that are prepared to delivery. Hip pain can also be caused by hormone relaxin. Fortunately, if you suffer hip pain, there are some steps that you can take to ease the pain.

Home Remedies
This is the first step that you can take when you suffer hip pain. For this, you can use warm water in heating pad and apply on painful hip. You can also take a bath with warm water. But, you have to make sure that the temperature of the water is less than 100 degrees. This is because overheating temperature can damage your baby. Also, you can use ice instead of water.

In addition, you can sleep with a pillow between your knees. This is done in order to take the pressure off of the hip joint. You can also swim or do water exercise in your house to easy the pain in your hip by relieving your hips from pressure.

Exercise
This is the second step that you can take to ease your hip pain. But, you have to make sure that the exercise that you do is safe for you and your baby. For this, you can consider Pilates or yoga. In this case, when you are about to do the exercise, you have to make sure that your instructor knows that you are pregnant. So, he/she can do the correct movements that will not danger your baby. Also, you can do hip flexor exercise. This is an exercise that is done by holding onto a chair for stability and extending your legs to stretch hips.

Other Treatments
This is another step that you can take when you suffer hip pain when you are pregnant. For this, you will be massaged by a chiropractor. But, this is only safe if your pain is not severe. But if your hip pain is severe, you should consult it with your doctor. You doctor must be know what is best for you and your baby. Make sure that everything you do is safe for you and your baby.

Lower back and hip pain is perhaps the most draining of health issues preventing you from undertaking many of the things you want to do. When you consider the real stresses and strains many of us put on the lower back and also the hips it’s obvious why so many of us suffer from lower back and hip discomfort. Even the very simple action of walking stresses these areas. When our feet strike the ground the impact of this action is transported to the hips and lower back.

Because the sciatic nerve is considered the longest nerve in your body, stretching from your spine to the feet. the trouble could be anywhere between the bottom of the backbone and your feet. This means you could experience pains any place in that area, even in a foot. Herniated disc signs in the lower back are typically pain and numbness or some weakness in that section of the body. If the herniated disc applies pressure on a nerve, this can also be a cause of sciatica. However, if it does not put pressure on a nerve then you would generally have a backache.

Sometimes in cases of injury to the back you may have a continuous lower back and hip pain which refuses to go away even after the injured area is healed. Incessant use of allopathic medicines might cause irreparable damage to different organs of the body depending on the strength of the drug. Suffering from occasional lower back and hip pain does not mean that it is going to be your life-long companion and will come back again and again to haunt you. Treating your body with natural ingredients and medicines can help pain relieve in a safe and natural way.

The unfortunate truth is, there isn’t really a concrete cure for back pain at this stage. Professionals will will tell you daily exercise is a way to relieve pain, and this is no doubt one of the best ways to go about pain relief. Hip pain is harder to target with an exercise. What is recommended you do is you learn how to walk properly to reduce strain on that hip. It may sound silly but a large majority of people simply do not know how to walk! Learning this will go a long way to relieving your pain.

Lower back pain is a very common thing in today’s society. It seems like almost everyone has at onetime or another experienced such pain for longer or shorter period. Do not attempt those exercises if you have too much pain. Then I would advice you to stop all exercises and continue to read because you could have what is called physical dysfunction and it´s a combination of tight and loose or weak muscles in your upper legs, buttocks, hips and shoulders that pull your pelvis and spine out of alignment over the years.

It is a known fact that to have a reasonably healthy old age one should protect the body when young. Lifting heavy weights, damage through falls, sports, severe shocks and even gardening can take its toll. There is hardly a person around me from young to old who does not suffer back pain or hip joint problems due to our fast life styles and traumas of the life we lead today. According to the Health Institute many cases of back pain and sore back result from stresses on the muscles and ligaments that support the spine. Nothing puts stress on the lower back more readily than bad sitting positions. It was something learned by me the hard way.

Chronic hip pain is a common and confusing symptom as there are many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the problem. Hip pain involves any pain in or around the hip joint. Hip-related pain is not always felt directly over the hip. Instead, you may feel groin pain or pain in the middle of your thigh. Similarly, pain in the hip may actually reflect a problem in your back or pelvis.
 
If you have chronic hip pain, some common causes include:

Arthritis hip pain from degeneration
Bursitis hip painfrom overuse or injury
Tendonitis from repetitive or strenuous activity
Strain or sprain of muscles and that attach to the groin area
Low-back strain or sciatica

Pelvic pain and groin pain are also common and have many causes. For women, pelvic pain may originate in gynecologic areas (cervix, uterus, or ovaries). In men, groin pain may originate in the testes or scrotum. Sometimes the cause is unknown. Disorders that can cause pelvic pain and groin pain may also be: 

Intestinal e.g., gastroenteritis, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, appendicitis, tumors, constipation, intestinal obstruction, perirectal abscess, irritable bowel syndrome
Urinary e.g., bladder infection, interstitial cystitis, kidney stones
Musculoskeletal e.g., pelvic floor pain, abdominal muscle strains
Nerve related e.g.vulvodynia
Psychogenic e.g., effects of previous physical, psychological, or sexual abuse
Activity related e.g., the effects of intense or prolonged activities such as cycling or running

Rule out a serious or treatable cause of your chronic hip pain or pelvic pain before proceeding. When considering chronic hip and pelvic pain of a musculoskeletal nature note: 

The spine must rest on the pelvis in a way which allows the hips to glide easily in their socket when the legs move
The hip is a ball and socket joint which must attach to the pelvis in a very particular way for the legs to work well
The spine, hips, and legs must function as a system or the muscles in the pelvic and groin areas can be stressed
Stressed pelvic and groin muscles can result in chronic pain

There is little information available regarding hip pains during pregnancy, but there are a few answers.  During pregnancy our bodies release a hormone called relaxin to help our bodies prepare for carrying a child and giving birth.  These hormones (you guessed it!) relax and loosen the joints and muscles in the pelvic area, which allow the hips to spread to accommodate the baby.  Your posture may also suffer as the weight is concentrated in your uterus, changing your center of gravity.  This also will put more pressure and stress on your hips.

Sleeping with a pillow between your legs at night will help take some of the pressure off of your hips.  There are also body pillows available that are curved to support not only your hips, but also your stomach and neck.  By supporting these specific areas, your spine will also be supported, which will help decrease the pain during the day as well. Using a large exercise ball to sit on can also help take the stress off of your hips and pelvic area, but be sure to get a helping hand for balance when sitting down or getting up!

If it seems that your hip pain is more prominent at certain times of the day or during activities such as walking, bending at the hips, or standing for a long time, let your OB/GYN know.  They may suggest seeing a physical therapist to help you ease the pain and gain more flexibility. 

Though walking is often suggested to stay healthy and prepare yourself for giving birth, if a woman is having hip pain, she may be advised to limit her walking.  Many women also enjoy yoga, pilates, or other gentle stretching exercises during pregnancy to help ease pain, improve their flexibility, and prepare their bodies for giving birth.

Chiropractic care may also be suggested.  If your hips are out of alignment, you may benefit from an adjustment from a chiropractor who has been trained in pregnancy care.  A massage may feel very good to a pregnant woman as well.  Therapeutic massage is much more effective than relaxation massage when you have hip pains during pregnancy.  You will want to make sure you are able to go to a therapeutic masseuse who is trained in helping pregnant women, because there are acupressure points in the legs and feet that are associated with the reproductive system and should be avoided during pregnancy. 

Not every woman will experience hip pain during pregnancy, but when it occurs it can be very unnerving.  Finding the best way to deal with and ease your hip pain without causing more is very important.  These are supposed to be joyous months for a woman, and you should be able to focus on planning for your new arrival.  Hip pains along the way (and any other pains, for that matter) should not keep you from doing all of the fun things that come with having a baby.

Remember that many women have had hip pains during pregnancy, so talk with your friends, sisters, and your mom.  Let them know how you feel, and if they had the same hip pains as you, ask them what they did to help ease the pain.  Pregnancy can be difficult enough without the extra stress, so just try to relax and enjoy yourself.

Miracle Hip Surgery and spica cast

I feel like I know you all. You feel like family to me, I tell you everything that is going on and thank you for caring about our life. Please let my grand-baby that is special needs teach you what is really important in life.Take time to stop and smell the roses. Be happy and thankful. Miracle had the pink cast for 7 weeks and the purple one for 4 weeks. Because of cerebral palsy her hip was out of place. So she had hip surgery on one leg and then the other one.. She is 14 lbs and 8 ozs. She is small and the doctors change her milk to add the pounds on her. Yes she had Hip dysplasa. After the cast was off she was in so much pain because of the cerebral palsy and not having her body worked out. . You know that Kayla was singing to her . This just took place on sept 8 09. God bless Miracle. She was also fited for braces on both legs and she will get a stander. One day I hope to see her walk. Please stand in agreement with me on this as we all pray for her. Prayer changes things. She was suppose to be put to sleep for a MRI on her brain and she do not feel well so now it will be in January before the next opening for an MRI I never would have made it without the Lord and thank you all for all your love and support and prayers. I love you and God bless you all♥♥♥ Kayla said Hello.

Top Tips to Treat and Prevent Hip Pain

This century was not kind to the hip. From the hula hoop to hip-hop, boogie-woogie to break dancing, the joint was jumping, bumping, and grinding at a mind-swiveling pace. If anything we can do like, swinging your hips on the dance floor, walking to the post office, or just doing a few stretching exercises every day helps keep the muscles and bones of the joint strong. But we have gotten away from doing those things. The majority of Americans have become couch potatoes, and they are paying a price for it later in life in the form of thinner, weaker bones and an increased potential for hip fractures. But it is never too late to ease hip pain, strengthen weak bones, and reduce your susceptibility to hip fractures. Here are some of the ways that can be easily treated with these simple methods.

Take away some pounds. There is proving evidence that you will take two or three pounds of pressure off your hips for each pound you lose. Therefore, getting rid of excess body weight can help to relieve the strain on your hips. As you get older, it becomes more difficult for your muscles to offset your increased weight. As a result, your joints bear more and more load, and they degenerate. So keeping your weigh down and staying fit are two of the best things you can do to preserve your hips.

Use heat. Occasionally you may feel pain in your hip, consider using heat. Try placing an electric heating pad over your hip for 20 minutes three or four times a day. If you do not have a heating pad, try to soak a towel in hot water and wiring it out.

Use assistive device. A cane or walker can be your best friend if it eases your hip pain and helps you to stay independent. If you need a cane or walker for stability, be sure that it is the right size. If not, then this device will increase your hip pain, rather than relieving it. Ask your doctor to recommend a medical supply store where you can be properly measured and outfitted with an appropriate cane or walker.

Use ice. If heat is not helping, apply ice where you feel hip pain to help reduce pain and swelling. At the same time, to help to protect your skin, put a towel between your skin and the ice. Ice may be used fro 15 to 20 minutes every one to two waking hours.

Be more able with a cane. When you use a cane, hold it in the hand opposite the injured hip. Move it forward at the same time that you step out with your injured hip, so you are distributing weight away from your bad hip and onto the cane. Then move your good hip forward as you take another stride.

Look for reliable relief. Anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen can reduce the swelling and ease the hip pain caused by arthritis, and other muscle or joint injuries. Make sure to alert you doctor if the recommended dosage on the label does not help at all. You may have a hip fracture or another serious underlying problem that should be evaluated.

Relieve the ache. When getting out of a car, lift and swing both legs out of the door before standing. By rotating on your rear instead of twisting your pelvis, you will lessen the strain on your back and hips. If you step out of the vehicle one leg at a time, you will put yourself in a position that will aggravate your hips.

Top 7 Tips to Relieve Hip Pain

Your hips sure come in handy at times. They are perfectly located for supporting extra-heavy grocery bags or for giving an open car door a shove when your hands are full. But they were intended as your body’s built-in valet. If anything, they are more a combination of bodyguard and chauffeur. They provide indispensable protection for your vital organs and give your legs the range of motion they need to carry you from one place to another. In fact, it is when you are on the move that your hips are at greatest risk for injury. A bad fall or a blow to the knee can cause the hip joint to dislocate. In other words, the hipbone no longer connects to the thighbone. The hip joint is also a prime candidate for arthritis. And the muscles and tendons that support the hips can become strained and inflamed from overuse. Because of its potential causes, here are some tips that you can consider to adopt to relieve your pain.

1. Be Patient

It is going to take a while for your hip to heal, especially if you have injured a muscle. If you pull a hamstring muscle, located in the back of either thigh, it can take 6 to 10 weeks to get better.

2. Get Some Support

If you can’t walk without limping, then use crutches or a cane. When you try to avoid bearing weight on your sore hip, you can easily strain muscles and tendons in other areas. If you opt for a cane, it is recommended to use proper technique by carrying the cane in the hand opposite the injured hip. Move it forward at the same time you step out with the injured hip, so you are bearing weight on both the good hip and the cane. Then step out with your “good” hip.

3. Go Polar

Ice is the first line of defense against hip pain. It is recommended to crush some ice and place it in a resealable storage bag, so it has a greater surface area. Lay a thin towel over your hip, then apply the ice at the site of pain for 15 minutes. If your pain is acute, caused by an injury, for example, you may need to reapply the ice as often as once every hour. But for chronic pain such as arthritis, once or twice a day may be enough.

4. Be Reasonable

Don’t place too many demands on an aching hip. In general, stay away form any activity that aggravates your pain. You may have to drive to work instead of walking or take the elevator instead of bounding up three flights of stairs at least for the time being.

5. Strike A Pose

Yoga can also enhance flexibility. It is recommended to adopt this simple technique. Sit on the floor and place the soles of your feet together. Pull your feet in, as close to the groin as comfortable. Then let gravity pull your knees toward the floor. If this position is uncomfortable at first, recommend to modify it slightly by bending only one leg at a time and keeping the other leg extended. Hold the pose for 15 seconds. Repeat three times.

6. Walk In Water

To keep your hip limber while you recover, head to your nearest pool for an aquatic workout. Water takes the weight off your hip and allows you to do more without pain than you could on dry land.

7. Take A Tablet

An over-the-counter pain reliever such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help a hurting hip. But if the dosage recommended on the label does not do the trick, alert your doctor. Something more serious may be going on.

Osteoarthritis in the hip is caused by wear and tear in the joint area.  The condition is usually more common in older people or those who have excess weight, but may also be seen in those with an injury to the area or simply unfavorable genetics.  In older patients, it is usually seen as a primary disease that would cause other symptoms or injuries.  In younger patients, osteoarthritis would likely be considered after an injury or other disease were ruled out. 

Hip pains are very common.  The problems come in identifying what is causing the hip pain and where the problem is centralized.  Once a diagnoses has been made, you and your doctor will be able to treat the problem with anti-inflammatory treatments, physical therapy, ice and/or heat on the painful area, and rest.  All of these treatments will be able to help ease the pain and allow you regain at least a portion of your mobility in these joints. 

Until you seek a doctor’s assistance, you will not be able to live your life to the fullest extent.  If you suspect that any of these disorders are affecting you, contact your doctor to discuss your options for treatment.
